18k engraved gold pendant with stones featuring the shield of the Medici family
The emblem of the Medici family is an imposing shield which we have lovingly recreated for you into a stylish hand crafted 18 carat gold pendant. There has been much speculation as to the origin of the balls displayed on the pendant, the most romantic and far-fetched explanation being that the balls are actually dents inflicted by the fearsome giant Mugello on one of Charlemagne's knights, Averado. We have taken that story to incorporate five lustrous rubies and a blue sapphire to embellish the shield with a uniqueness all of its own. A design dating back centuries and steeped in tradition, the delicately carved shape of the shield is so captivating you will be the envy of everyone. The eye hook is large enough to accommodate even the thickest of chains.
