Hand crafted glass micro mosaic portrait of Florence
There is so much to absorb in this fascinating scene that your eyes are treated to a spectacular display of colour, contents and superior workmanship. This particular technique is very unique. The term is called “Vaticano mosaico minuto Romano” where tiny pieces of Venetian glass are cut and carefully arranged to create a captivating picture. It first evolved in Rome at the end of the 17th century in the Vatican school by an artist called Rafaelli. The famous cathedral of Santa Maria Fiore featuring Brunelleschi’s Duomo and the Bell Tower designed by Giotto is prominently displayed in the background and there is a charming fountain with an imposing statue on top.
